French President Emmanuel Macron made a significant visit to Indonesia, emphasizing the strong partnership between the two countries. Macron stressed that the bond between Indonesia and France goes beyond symbolic gestures, with real and robust cooperation. President Prabowo Subianto warmly welcomed Macron at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta, solidifying the ties between the nations.
Macron applauded the warm reception and highlighted the opportunity to enhance the strategic partnership in various sectors such as the economy, technology, security, and culture. Both Indonesia and France have a diplomatic relationship spanning 75 years, with notable advancements in the past decade. Macron acknowledged Indonesia’s pivotal role in upholding regional stability in the Indo-Pacific region, specifically noting progress in defense cooperation, renewable energy, transportation, and the energy transition agenda.
Cultural collaboration also took center stage during Macron’s visit, culminating in the signing of a cultural agreement at the Borobudur Temple complex.
